GOAN FISH CURRY

Indian cuisine is definitely something different. The cuisine is full of spices and flavours. Today, I decided to make something from one of my favourite parts of India....Goa.
If you have ever been to Goa, you know that the exotic seafood dishes and fish curry is something one cannot miss once in Goa.

There are many recipes for goan fish curry, I made this for the first time and it doesn't need too much time in the kitchen. It's healthy, NO CREAM is needed  and the tangy and spicy taste will leave you wanting more.
It is the perfect lunch or dinner recipe.

                                                         INGREDIENTS

1 kilogram king fish (surmai)
1 table spoon tamarind paste
4 teaspoons coriander seeds
1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
7 cloves garlic
1 lemon
2 pinches salt
1 1/2 tablespoon refined oil ( you can use ghee or olive oil too)
4 cups water
1 large chopped onion
5 dry red chillies
2 tablespoon grated coconut
1 sliced & slit green chilly
1/2 teaspoon powdered turmeric

INSTRUCTIONS :

Start with the fish, clean it and slice it in pieces. Marinate the pieces in salt, turmeric powder and lemon juice. Wrap it in foil and set aside.
Meanwhile prepare the marination (masala) for the curry. In a mixer, combine together all the spices, grated coconut, chopped onion, garlic, green chilli, red chillies and little bit of water. Mix together to create fine paste.

Next, take a pot and heat oil in it over medium flame. Add the paste and let it cook for a 2-3 minutes, keep stirring the mixture.

Add marinated fish to the pan and let it soak in the mixture. Cook it for a few minutes, add 3 cups of water and add salt.

Cook it all till the fish is nice and soft over the low flame. Once is done serve it with a steamed rice.

BON APPETIT!
