NICE

When we plan our holiday break from the work and hectic lifestyle my boyfriend suggested French Riviera and I was immediately up to it.  We both love France as a country and I've heard so many things about the azure blue water, so since the day he mention it I couldn't wait to see it.
We decided to stay in Nice. It is the capital of French Riviera and the 5th largest city in France and it is absolutely beautiful city. I fall in love with Nice the moment we arrived.
The big plus is that the airport is right in the centre of the city  (it took us 15mins by car to out hotel), so you don't have to struggle and spend another 1 hour to get from the airport or to the airport. How amazing is that, 15 minutes and you are right in the center!

As soon as we reached our hotel,we stayed in Hotel Mercure Nice Promenade des Anglais, cozy room with sea view, good services, friendly stuff, I wanted to go and explore the beautiful city. Our first steps led us to Cours Saleya market, the famous flower and food market (every Monday this place turn to flea/antique market). I just love these markets, love flowers, and of course I love love food (i mean who doesn't) :).
This market overflows with fresh produce, meats, cheese, olives, herbs, flowers. You' ll find local farmers selling their organic (bio) products, fruits and vegetables. The market is bursting with history, ambience, lots of different smell from every side and culinary inspiration.
It is really charming, in the afternoon this place turn into art, people selling their own paintings and homemade products, most of the people were older. Such a lovely retired life. In a little town, selling their arts, just being happy meeting their old and new friends.

The summer is peak season for lavender in Provence, very close to French Riviera.  Everywhere we turned in Nice there was fresh lavender. Heavenly- scented lavender sachets, lavender oil, lavender soap.

Our friend had  recommended Fenocchio for ice cream, so when we came across it, we knew we had to try it. As I already mention the city was flavoured by lavender everywhere, so when I saw lavender ice cream I knew I had to try it. It was one of the most tastiest ice cream I've ever had! So good. So if you are ever in Nice, look for a pink umbrellas and be sure to try
ice-cream from  Fenocchio.

We walked trough the city all the way up to the Castle Hill. It has a great views over the coast, there is a lovely park with lots of greenery, a kids play area and snack bar. The walk down is easy, up not that easy, but there is an elevator to take you the the top.

We spend our day by roaming around the city, exploring little cozy aisles, enjoying the city full of charm and life. We ended up for dinner at the Italian restaurant located by the sea on Promenade des Anglais called Di Piu.  One of the best food we had in Nice. I've ordered White pizza with Truffles (four type of cheese pizza) and my boyfriend ordered Spaghetti aux Fruits de Mar (spaghetti with seafood).  It was absolutely delicious that the very next evening we came back and ordered exactly the same. Crazy I know. Highly recommending this place for dinner. Don't forget to get bottle of local wine :) YUMMMM

After the dinner we took a sunset walk on the beach. The beach here is all rocks. People bring mattresses, towels to lay out on the beach and watch the beautiful sunset.
We could sit here and listen to the waves crush against the shore all night.

The next day we started our day with morning run on the Promenade des Anglais. Such a beautiful morning, people would be just jogging, or walking, or sitting and enjoying the morning sunrise. After good run we deserve the good treat, and of course when in France I would never miss the pain au chocolate (the chocolate croissant).

The Blue Chair is Symbol of the Nice

After our well spend morning we decided to take a trip to Villefranche-sur-Mer and Eze.
We took the train from Nice train station to Villefranche-sur-Mer. The train is very easy and convenient, took us about 15mins.
Villerfranche-sur-Mer is a very picturesque Medieval beach village on the Mediterranean coast.Once a fishing village. Its very charming with its pastel colored buildings and narrow streets, along with long sandy beaches, terraces cafes and restaurant and active yacht basin.

From one pretty town to another. You'll fall in love with the gorgeous view of the Mediterranean from Eze, a charming hilltop town on the Cote d'Azur. Besides the remarkable collection of exotic plants in Le Jardin exotique d'Eze which is located on this hilltop, explore little shops full of art which you will find on the stairways on the way to the top.

Before leaving Eze village we stop at the Parfumerie Galimard (you can aslo visit Parfumerie Fragonard which is older, but we choose Galimard,as was less crowded :). We walked around the factory, learned about the history and how to make a perfume.  Good experience.

We took a train back from Eze to Nice.  It is easy to take a tram from the train station to the city, but we love to walk so we walked on the way back. We reach Place Massena (the main square) surrounded  by fountains, good shops, and many many good restaurants. You would always see people sitting and eating and drinking wine at any time of the day.

There is always something to do in Nice.
Visit St. Nicholas Orthodox Cathedral (but I was little disappointed), or go to see the iconic hotel Le Negresco or take a bike tour or any other things to do.
The city never sleep, is divided to new city and old city, and every part has something to show.
I already can't wait to go back again.
